How It All Began.
Our Rich History.
Dating back to 1947, our 70,000-square-foot packing and cold storage facility previously belonged to I. Kunik Company, a family-operated legend within South Texas’s produce industry. Their story begins in the mid-1940’s when Irving Kunik immigrated from Russia with just the clothes on his back and a steadfast desire to acquire the American dream. From selling grapes on the streets of Chicago to make ends meet, Irving would move to McAllen in 1947 to pack and ship citrus fruits imported from Mexico. Beginning straight from the ground and building all the way up with his family, I. Kunik Co. would go on to farm their own carrots, cabbages, and melons and cultivate more than 1,500 acres of agricultural land, while maintaining their original service line of importing citrus fruits across the southern border.
Their story moved us. For decades, I. Kunik provided America with fresh and high-quality Persian limes that were grown from prime orchards in Mexico. However, beyond their effective distribution processes and negotiation strategies, we’re most drawn to their traditions of honesty, integrity, and sheer dedication of bringing the highest value to their customers.
